The 2012 Schoodic International Sculpture Symposium held from July 22 through August 30 at the University of Maine has concluded with resounding success. The eight sculptors have completed work that took six weeks to complete, in the unique setting of the steam plant parking lot off College Avenue in Orono. The eight sculptures have been moved and most have been installed in their permanent locations. Please visit the 2012 Artists page for pictures and information on each artist and their sculpture.
SISS has worked in partnership with the University of Maine to host this event. The UMaine campus is now home to two sculptures while the University of Maine Foundation is the new home of another sculpture, placed prominently next to the Buchanan Alumni House. Five other sponsors have received sculptures, including the cities of Bangor and Old Town, the town of Orono, Husson University and Acadia Hospital.
The 2012 Symposium was a collaboration with the University of Maine, its wonderful staff and the each sponsoring group. Without this support the 2012 event could not have been realized!
